Finding Profit in Conflict Resolution
Sun, Nov 06, 2016
by
John Wright
Passage:
Philemon 1:11-13
Series:
Conflict Management
Duration:
50 mins 34 secs
Start by focusing on the good in the other person, not my personal slights, or perceptions of being slighted. Don't seek arguments or to win an argument, or to feel good about myself. Follow the example of Christ and bridge the gap in conflict by sacrificing myself and esteeming the other better.

Passage:
Philemon 1:8-10
Series:
Conflict Management
Duration:
54 mins 7 secs
Consider that I could be a part of the conflict I am trying to help reconcile. I could be the cause of hurt, or provoker of emotion, or even an aggrieved party who desires justice. My goal is to apply faith and love, even in the realest of situations.

Passage:
Philemon 1:6-7
Series:
Conflict Management
Duration:
49 mins 11 secs
Paul could have started out by discussing Onesimus' need, or Philemon's rights, or even his own commands to them to work this out. But he doesn't. Paul starts by acknowledging Philemon's love and faith, in prayer. The love and faith of each person is the basis for lasting reconciliation: start there.

Passage:
Philemon 1:3-5
Series:
Conflict Management
Duration:
49 mins 1 sec
Success isn't winning the argument, nor having the last word, but speaking in a way that glorifies God. Don't make conflict worse by my approach. I must know and master the tools God has given me in conflict management.

John Wright
Passage:
Philemon
Series:
Conflict Management
Duration:
47 mins 52 secs
Conflict in the body of Christ has to be confronted. But in doing so, we must trust the Lord to work in the heart of each person, rather than attempting to force reconciliation. Only through the Lord Jesus Christ and His grace can we truly manage conflict biblically.
