Foundation of Faith

Foundation of Faith

Jan 2017 - Oct 2020

Sunday mornings, we are doing a verse-by-verse study in the book of Romans.  Romans gives us the foundation for our personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It also gives us the foundation for how to share our faith with others.

Join us Sundays from 10:00 - 11:00am or listen online below.

Passage: Romans 5:12-14
Duration: 37 mins 50 secs
We reach the sentence phase in the case being presented against us - we are guilty, and we will die. Death is our condemnation for sin. However, our deliverance from death is found in Jesus Christ!

Passage: Romans 5:9-11
Duration: 58 mins 33 secs
There is a danger in thinking of the resurrection in terms of an event only in the past. The resurrection is why we grow, congregate with other believers, and walk to please the Lord. The resurrection is much more than a past event...it's a daily event that prepares us for a future one.

Passage: Romans 5:6-8
Duration: 45 mins 11 secs
Even though we were without strength, no man could help us, and we were sinners - God saw it worthwhile to step in and save us. Even though we were doomed to wrath, He showed us His great love and offered us salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. What great news!

Passage: Romans 5:3-5
Duration: 58 mins 45 secs
The work God began in us at salvation, He will continue. We must trust His process day in and day out, good times and bad. It's important we allow God's process to work and see it for its benevolent intent.

Passage: Romans 4:23-25
Duration: 41 mins 44 secs
Summarizing chapter 4, we see that faith has substance, and it's found in God's Word as we see Him working throughout human history. The power of faith (belief) is just as real and strong today as it was for Abraham.

Passage: Romans 4:20-22
Duration: 55 mins 53 secs
We are daily confronted with things that challenge our faith and call into question our belief. While we may have chosen in the past to believe in Christ and His Word, the question of belief is an ongoing, daily, present tense one. Mental doubts that may never be seen outwardly by others, must still be dealt with as we ask the personal question, "Am I a believer?" Being fully persuaded of God's truth does not occur instantly because we hear the truth from another person. Full persuasion only happens when God personally convinces us through His Word. That's when we become 100% vested in faith.

Passage: Romans 4:17-19
Duration: 57 mins 12 secs
What is hope? Hope anchored in the temporal things of this earth only leads to disappointment. We have a sure hope in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

Passage: Romans 4:13-16
Duration: 50 mins 20 secs
How does a promise made to Abram thousands of years ago impact us today?

Passage: Romans 4:9-12
Duration: 47 mins 47 secs
Focusing on our own abilities in the flesh derails us from walking in the steps of faith. The Christian life is a process of learning to rely more and more on God, rather than on ourselves.
